Guru Purnima is for paying your respect to all Teachers and Gurus, both in the inner as well as the outer world. You should not imagine that we are paying respect to one Guru. It is actually to show our deep respects and love for the teacher who has brought us from darkness into light. 14 July 2022 While it’s true that a person who has advanced spiritually possesses certain extraordinary capacities, it is also true that a genuine spiritual teacher as far as possible does not exhibit his powers simply for the reason that a genuine seeker is not interested in his powers, miracles, protection or anything of this kind. 15 July 2022 I think to seek power from the spiritual teacher is merely a carryover, an extension of seeking power and luxuries from this world into the spiritual field. I would call it spiritual entertainment and I think no genuine spiritual Guru should be wasting his time and energy performing these wonders and diverting the genuine aspirant’s mind. 16 July 2022 The moment you are serious that nothing else is more important to you than finding the Truth; your Guru will come to you. One of the main functions of the Guru is to make you stand on your own feet. A true Guru does not want you to be dependent on anybody. He wants you ultimately to flower, become free and not to bind you even to himself.
