Nirantara deergha kaala abhyaasa – means continuous practice for a long long time. This is the only way to clear up your mind; make it positive and free it from negativity. 29 March 2022 A small good deed, a kind deed done to another human being or another living creature, can wipe out the dirt of negativity gathered in your soul and make it free and clear as a mirror to reflect Divinity. 30 March 2022 When a teacher gives you instructions, follow those instructions completely, to the point. Don’t say that ‘this I’ll follow, this I won’t’ Therefore to take a Guru – spiritual teacher, as a guide, is a choice that we have to make very carefully. You cannot suddenly jump into it. 31 March 2022 One of the great obstacles to attaining Truth is sloth. Swami Vivekananda has said that one cannot meditate for 24 hours a day, therefore Work. It prevents you from sleep and sloth. Working for others purifies your heart. 1 April 2022 Imitating a practitioner of kindness is always better than imitating a fellow who is cruel. Practice kindness to all living beings, as much as possible. 2 April 2022 Real happiness and fulfillment is to be found inside and not outside. It is independent of anything which you acquire or not acquire in the outside world. 3 April 2022 Words can only convey things up to a certain point; words are prose, not poetry. Poetry is that which is in between the words. 4 April 2022 Devotion, bhakti, is in the heart. 5 April 2022 A heart with no love, affection, devotion, and bhav is equal to a smashan: cremation ground. There is nothing there; it’s all burnt, finished. There is no life out there. 6 April 2022 If you want to be free of ignorance, you need knowledge. But once you are free, you have to throw both away. Don’t stick the thorn of knowledge into your foot and think ‘I know everything’. 7 April 2022 Our true self, true identity – or what the Upanishads call the ‘Atman’ is ‘That Consciousness’ because of which we are conscious- and to reach that identity of ours by quieting the mind, is the main function of meditation. 8 April 2022 We keep working all our lives just trying to grasp ‘happiness’ which always eludes us. Permanent happiness is only an idea because we know only this ‘little happiness’ that comes to us in intervals. 9 April 2022 When all the ‘mala’ or ‘delusions’ of the mind are cleared, then what remains is the true essence which is complete happiness, the Truth, known as the Brahman. 10 April 2022 The theory of Vedanta is that all bliss and happiness lies within every living being, and when the senses come in contact with a particular object, a little bit of it is released. 11 April 2022 If I begin the enquiry by saying ‘I know’ then there is no enquiry. So one should sit with that humility which comes out of the understanding that learning has no end. One can learn any time then. 12 April 2022 In the ultimate sense, when happiness is found inside, one realizes that there is no difference between the inside and the outside! But first one has to start from the inside. 13 April 2022 Holistic living is to live with the understanding that the entire universe is pervaded by that blissful Supreme Being and we are a part of that! 14 April 2022 As long as you have a physical body, there is nobody who knows everything. So we need to learn. At any time, one should be prepared to learn. 15 April 2022 Ultimately, what we are seeking from understanding the Upanishads is not something that can be known through the conceptual mind at all! When all the defenses are completely gone, then what remains is That! 16 April 2022 When one is full of worldly knowledge and begins to feel that one knows everything, when one worships knowledge just for the sake of it and not for finding the Truth, then one enters into greater darkness; because the ego becomes quite swelled up and there is no possibility of a breakthrough. 17 April 2022 Devotion is spontaneous. We can teach all the ways leading to it but what it is, can’t be taught. Suddenly, the seed sprouts; we don’t know how. It sprouts in different ways for different people. 18 April 2022 This happiness which you seek is not something outside. It is right inside – you just have to turn, reverse your search and look within. 19 April 2022 The mind cannot be in a vacuum. So if you don’t want the mind to be occupied by the outside world with its distractions and disturbances, engage it in something within. The easiest and the best way to engage it is with your breath, sit down quietly and watch it. 20 April 2022 The Upanishad is the understanding of the Truth and meditation or sadhana is the practice by which you experience what you have understood. These are linked together. 21 April 2022 Love is an all inclusive panacea for all ills. It means utter selflessness, not love for your own sake but love for the sake of love. This is very rare. 22 April 2022 There is nothing wrong in maintaining a comfortable existence on this earth. But while you are here, try to understand that this is temporal, it is here today and gone tomorrow.
